Session 6: The Cure for Anxiety

CBF Retreat 2019

Worry is the sin of distrusting the promise and providence of God, and yet it is a sin that Christians commit perhaps more frequently than any other. The English term “worry” comes from an old German word meaning “to strangle, or choke”. That is exactly what worry does; it is a kind of mental and emotional strangulation, which probably causes more mental and physical afflictions than any other single cause.Do not be anxious, or stop being anxious (present imperative), because God is our Master.

Session 4: Practice your Position

CBF Retreat 2019

This is how the church is supposed to function: we collectively, through proclaiming Christ to ourselves and to our brothers and sisters, overcome our performance based mindset and embrace the stewardship that God has given us to admonish/teach and present every person mature or complete in Christ by the power of Christ

Session 3: Secular Vs The Biblical Perspective

CBF Retreat 2019

Psychology is supposed to be the study of the mind and soul, but is largely based on conjecture and theories that amount to a de facto religion masquerading as science. The religion of psychiatry begins with wrong foundation and tenets, ends with wrong conclusions and principles.

Heb 4:12 ESV For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Session 2: The Need and Definition of Biblical Counselling

CBF Retreat 2019

Do we really believe God’s Word is true? Do we really believe God’s Word is sufficient?  How do we look at our problems, conflicts, decisions and other people through the lens of Scripture and how exactly do we apply God’s Word and biblical principles to the various situations in our lives? We need to be equipped in the church to disciple one another and to effectively counsel people who are struggling with either their own sins and its consequences, or the consequences of sins committed against them.  This ministry as we saw last night, is not restricted to pastors or elders or leaders, but is the ministry and responsibility of the whole church and all its members.
